Texas has gone toe-to-toe with their rival in College Station on several marquee prospects during this recruiting cycle. 4-star defense end Jospeh Ossai was one of those such battles and for most of his recruitment it looked like he could have gone either way.

Ossai is the a top 20 player in Texas and the No. 12 weak side defensive end in the country. The Longhorns could use some help with their pass rush and Ossai could be the right answer at the right time.

With National Signing Day nearing the undecided the Oak Ridge standout is a virtual lock to stick with the burnt orange. 247 Crystal Ball projections give the Longhorns more than a 90 percent chance of landing Ossai, which has to have coach Herman feeling mighty proud of himself.

The arrival of Jimbo Fisher in College Station is not going to make recruiting any easier, but Ossai’s recruitment is a sign that Texas isn’t going anywhere any time soon. Ossai won’t be the only battle between Herman and Fisher during this recruiting cycle, but it could be one of the most important.
