Most of the 2018 recruiting class for West Virginia football is ready to go for National Signing Day. Is there anything else surprising they can pull off?

West Virginia football has a solid class locked up for the 2018 recruiting cycle so far. Head coach Dana Holgorsen learned how to make a lot out of a little in terms of recruiting starting from his time with the Oklahoma State Cowboys, as their offensive coordinator under Mike Gundy.

However, the 2017 Early Signing Period took away from much of the significance of National Signing Day. While it’s still one of the bigger events of college football’s off-season, 2018 National Signing Day is the final chance for teams like the Mountaineers to make their mark on the incoming freshmen class.

With 22 commits in their 2018 class, West Virginia has a large amount of prospects ready to go for the upcoming season. Of those 22 commits, seven have enrolled early, 12 signed early, and three are still listed as hard commits.

Moreover, just two of the Mountaineers 22 commits are four-star recruits. Fairmont, WV, defensive end Dante Stills is the top ranked recruit in the class. He’s the best prospect out of West Virginia too. Safety Kwantel Raines is another early signee that’ll boost the Mountaineers defense.

Developing the defense is a big priority for the Mountaineers, and it’s great to witness them building it right now on the recruiting trail. Three-star JUCO transfer cornerback Joshua Norwood is the top ranked early enrollee and should be ready to go to compete for a starting spot this year.

This class the Mountaineers have set right now puts them at the No. 33 ranked group in the nation, and sixth in the Big 12. With that said, here’s a look at the biggest storylines for West Virginia’s 2018 National Signing Day.
