A strong wide receiver group just got even better for Ole Miss football with a great trio of commitments before the conclusion of National Signing Day.
Ole Miss football added one of the bigger fish in the pool of uncommitted prospects in the 2018 cycle just before the start of National Signing Day. Four-star wide receiver Miles Battle, a high-valued target for various SEC programs, chose the Rebels. That continues the trend of strong receiving corps for Ole Miss, even under head coach Matt Luke.
Battle is the third wide receiver (and second four-star) committed to the Rebels 2018 class. Nabbing him away from other SEC West foes like the Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas A&M Aggies also gives the Ole Miss offense another leg up.
The other receivers in the Ole Miss class are Elijah Moore and Demarcus Gregory. Moore is the highest ranked receiver, slightly ahead of Battle. As a whole, the fourth best pro-style quarterback in the nation Matt Corral is the only commit ranked ahead of Moore.

All of these talented prospects, along the offensive side of the ball, are building for a very bright future for Ole Miss. Losing one of the best recruits in program history, quarterback Shea Patterson, to transfer put the Rebels behind the eight ball. Now, they have a solid receiving corps that continues to develop and multiple options for the new starting quarterback.
More weapons a good thing for Rebels
Add Battle, Moore, and Gregory to an existing Ole Miss receiving corps featuring A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf, and DaMarkus Lodge, and you get possibly the best group in the SEC West. The Rebels already had a standout group of receivers entering 2018, let alone the crop of incoming freshmen.
Whether Luke chooses to go with last year’s backup quarterback in Jordan Ta’amu or Corral as their starter for the upcoming season, they’ll have a plethora of weapons to throw to. That’s one less thing to worry about building up during a rebuilding stage for the Rebels.
Having all the proven talent Ole Miss is bringing back in the receiving corps also allows these three commits to develop at the proper pace. A tough level of competition in the SEC is not easy to get adjusted to, and they get to learn from a premier All-SEC receiver in Brown.
Building for the future
Even two of the returning receivers, Brown and Metcalf, should have more than one year left in Oxford. Lodge is the only receiver that runs out of eligibility after the 2018 campaign. That’s another sign for a bright future for this program.

There’s still some time left for Ole Miss to add to their 2018 class. They can turn the focus to the defensive side of the ball, with a solid quarterback, group of receivers, and running back already signed. Landing Battle is one of the biggest victories for Ole Miss on the 2018 recruiting trail.
