Baylor Football: 5 signees who’ll have an instant impact in 2018
If there is one sleeper on the recruiting trail that proved they can pull in a solid class against all odds for 2019, it’s Baylor football.
Baylor football might have been the most surprising recruiting class of the 2018 cycle. While they did not make too much noise on National Signing Day, the Bears reeled in a top 30 class in the nation while only winning one game in 2017.
Considering all the factors working against Matt Rhule and the Bears, he is building a solid foundation for the future of this program in Waco. It could still be a tough year for Baylor in the Big 12 in 2018, but they’re going to get better with their second-year head coach’s toughness and developing offensive talent.
The Bears added some talent to both sides of the ball with the 2018 recruiting class. Baylor added 23 commits in total and finished with the fourth best class in the Big 12. That slated them above solid programs like the Oklahoma State Cowboys, West Virginia Mountaineers and Texas Tech Red Raiders (who had a rough go on the recruiting trial this time around).
Moreover, this solid class for Baylor does not include a huge target that they missed on during NSD. Four-star wide receiver Tommy Bush had the Bears among his top destinations, but ultimately chose to go out of state with the Georgia Bulldogs.
Of Baylor’s 23 commits in the 2018 class, six enrolled early to get a leg up on the rest. Moreover, the Bears have six of their 23 incoming freshman class as four-star prospects. This is one of the best Baylor recruiting class seen in quite a while.
Here’s a look at five signees for the Baylor Bears who make an instant impact in 2018.
