Running Backs: B-

This position is wide open to competition in 2018 thanks to the departure of star junior Josh Adams who declared for the NFL draft. He put together a phenomenal season, but he’s going to need a replacement and right now that looks like it’ll be Dexter Williams. He’ll be backed up by Tony Jones Jr. but depth will be lacking.

In fact, CJ Holmes and Deon McIntosh have been dismissed from the team, opening a door for a younger player to jump into the rotation.

Unfortunately, the Irish may not have any high-impact signees in the 2018 class. Three-star Jahmir Smith is the highest-rated running back in the class out of two signees and he’s listed as the No. 611 prospect and 26th-best at that position in the class. His 6-foot-0, 205-pound frame could be useful in 2018, but just how much will he play?

The other running back signee is C’Bo Flemister who is the lowest-rated player in Notre Dame’s 2018 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s listed as the No. 1,205 prospect and 68th-best running back. He possesses some decent speed, but there’s a good chance he redshirts.

Tariq Bracy, also listed as a cornerback, has played running back all his life and if he adds some muscle, he could find his way into the backfield, if need be.
