Quarterback: A

If there’s one quarterback that a team could build around in this year’s class, many would automatically assume it’s Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields, but often overlooked is Phil Jurkovec.

The four-star dual-threat from Gibsonia, Penn., is ranked the No. 4 mobile quarterback in the class and No. 83 overall. He was an Army All-American and his 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame and along with his incredible arm strength and athleticism, he could be a special talent in South Bend.

Jurkovec wouldn’t be given the starting job in 2018, though. First off, he’s not an early enrollee so learning the playbook in a limited amount of time could put him behind the 8-ball.

On top of that, Brandon Wimbush is returning for his senior season and Ian Book is another threat to contend for the starting job. Book may be the favorite to start right now because of Wimbush’s shaky finish to the season.

Jurkovec has the talent to start as a true freshman, but he has a lot of work to do. Still, this was a major pull for Brian Kelly.
