Landing a solid class on the recruiting trail in 2018, West Virginia football is ready now more than ever to compete in the Big 12 this season.

West Virginia football concluded the 2018 edition of National Signing Day with a rather quiet and comfortable mentality. Similar to a few other programs in the Big 12, the Mountaineers were pretty much set with the class they already had signed, but there were a few more targets that they wanted to go after.

With 23 commitments in the 2018 recruiting class for the Mountaineers, they ring in at the No. 35 ranked group in the nation and the sixth best in the Big 12. Of those 23 commits, seven have enrolled early to West Virginia University.

Moreover, the Mountaineers landed two four-star prospects in this class. All seven early enrollees are three-star prospects. The best of the bunch among the early enrollees is three-star Northwest Mississippi Community College cornerback Joshua Norwood.

When the Mountaineers take the field in 2018, they’ll have quite a few first-year players that could get some early playing time under head coach Dana Holgorsen. Especially with some turnover on the defensive side of the ball, there’s some big opportunity for the freshmen.

One great example of a freshman that had a huge impact for West Virginia in 2017 is starting free safety Kenny Robinson. And, Robinson sits among the best defensive backs coming back to Morgantown for the Mountaineers in 2018.

This is one of the better classes Holgorsen has reeled in during his tenure with the Mountaineers. He’s not accustomed to pulling in top 25 classes, but making the best use of the talent he does get.

Here are five signees that can make an instant impact for the West Virginia Mountaineers in 2018.
