Even though there’s a lot of talent returning along the West Virginia offense, especially in the receiving corps, there’s still going to be a lot of targets to go around. Rising junior Will Grier should be the best quarterback in the Big 12 in 2018, and he’ll have a lot of weapons to throw to.

One of those weapons that could emerge this year is three-star tight end Mike O’Laughlin. As a top-10 player from Illinois, and with the size at 6-foot-5, O’Laughlin was a gem of a find for the Moutaineers.

While he did sign with West Virginia a while ago, O’Laughlin did also receive an offer from the Ohio State Buckeyes, but still decide to take his talents to Morgantown. That signals a buy in from some promising prospects that Holgorsen is putting together a really solid offense now.

Since West Virginia is not an offense that traditionally lines up with a standard tight end in the formation, O’Laughlin is likely to take a spot outside more often. He could present a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses, especially with the amount of skill position players that defenses have to worry about on the Mountaineers offense already.
