Iowa State Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2018
A much-needed bye week greets the Cyclones following their match up with West Virginia gives Matt Campbell extra time to prepare for Texas Tech making their trip to Ames. Iowa State has had recent success against Texas Tech, winning their previous two matchups, including last year’s by a final score of 31-13.
Kliff Kingsbury seat may be a little warmer than he would like following a disappointing 6-7 season including a bowl loss to USF where many thought the Red Raiders choked the game away. Texas Tech will have to replace quarterback Nic Shimonek with sophomore McLane Carter, who saw limited time last season. The Red Raiders also must replace running back Justin Stockton, but do return receiver Keke Coutee.
There is no reason to believe that Iowa State will not dominate this game like they have the past two years. Those results also include a 66-10 thrashing the last time Texas Tech came to Ames in 2016. The Cyclones will extend their winning streak against the Red Raiders to three games.
