Overall: B

This was Kirk Ferentz’s highest-rated class in seven years as the Hawkeyes finished with the 40th-best class in the country. They finished in the bottom half of the Big Ten once again, but that doesn’t really matter as long as the recruits they get produce once they are molded and ready.

In the last few years, Ferentz and his staff have found themselves recruiting against higher competition once again. It came down to between Iowa and Notre Dame for John Waggoner, Dallas Craddieth held offers from Alabama, Georgia, Wisconsin and Oregon and Dayvion Nixon received an offer from Alabama while playing at Iowa Western Community College.

Needless to say, Ferentz is happy with this class.

As has always been the case, you won’t see most of these recruits until they are sophomores, juniors or even seniors in some cases. Rarely do true freshman make an impact during Ferentz’s tenure, but after a youth movement last season, it appears even the Silver Fox is willing to let the young bloods get a shot at seeing the turf at Kinnick Stadium
