Texas A&M, despite a change at head coach, finished the 2018 cycle with a top-20 recruiting class. With so many big names on the list, who has fallen through the cracks?
Texas A&M had quite the signing day a week ago. With big flips like Bobby Brown and Tank Jenkins, fans are riding high and feeling like Jimbo Fisher may just be everything this program needed.
However, with those kind of names headlining a class, many are bound to slip through the cracks in terms of notoriety. Let’s meet a couple of the kids that many would call “underrated.”
This is the commitment and signee that many people forget about. Luke Matthews comes from a long line of offensive linemen and a long line of Aggies. You may remember his brothers Mike and Jake Matthews, both former Aggies now playing in the NFL. His family heritage alone made him a lock to be an Aggie for quite a while and as a result, many forget about him.
With an offensive line that struggled as much as the Aggies in 2016, another Matthews brother could very well be just what the unit needs. This offensive guard was quite successful in the high school ranks out of Missouri City, Texas. The translation to the SEC is a big one, but his brothers did it and I have no doubts that he will follow suit. It hasn’t failed the program yet.
