Texas A&M football finished the 2018 recruiting cycle with a bang and the Aggies are well on their way to an even more impressive finish in 2019.

Jimbo Fisher was brought to College Station with astronomically expectations. The now former Florida State head coach was tasked with bringing a national championship (or four) to Texas A&M. Before he wins on the field he’s going to have to win a few major battles off of it. Recruiting is the lifeblood of college football, and Fisher was thrown into the fray immediately.

Fisher and his new staff were severely disadvantaged by the Early Signing Period. After weeks on the job most of his competitors were able to lock up the majority of their 2018 classes. With the Aggies sitting outside the top 30, Fisher and his staff rallied for a massive National Signing Day, climbing all the way to No. 17 before the rankings were finalized.

No. 17 was a good start, considering the circumstances, but Fisher has top five on his mind next season. With nearly a year before the next National Signing Day the Aggies have achieved just that. The addition of defensive tackle Josh Ellison pushed Texas A&M into the top five for the 2019 rankings.

Texas A&M has six commits for their 2019 class so far which includes 5-star safety Brian Williams. The Aggies have their eye on several other top recruits, and the momentum building in College Station may be enough for a few more to join the fold before the summer rolls around.

It’s going to take a string of top 10 finishes for the Aggies to acquire the level of talent to win championships. Alabama, Clemson and even Florida State have proven that blue-chip players lead to blue-chip teams. The Aggies hope to continue that tradition, and so far they’re well on their way.
