Iowa football isn’t known for signing flashy recruiting classes, but the Hawkeyes do tend to mold underrated signees into stars. Who stands out in 2018?

Kirk Ferentz has usually never been one to land very splashy recruiting classes, and the Class of 2018 was no exception to that. Iowa finished with the 40th-best recruiting class in the country according to 247sports. Iowa did land a few big names here and there, such as West Des Moines, Dowling Catholic prospect John Waggoner, Missouri safety Dallas Craddieth and nearby Solon prospect and U.S. Army-All American Tyler Linderbaum.

Iowa however is a program that continuously churns out NFL prospects who were once two or three star prospects. They molded players such as Marshall Yanda, Chad Greenway, Bob Sanders, Micah Hyde, Mike Daniels, Dallas Clark and countless other starters across the NFL. Players such as Clark and Greenway came from very tiny backgrounds with Clark playing Class A football in Iowa and Greenway playing nine-man football in South Dakota.

The Hawkeyes turn out some of the hardest working players in all of college football year-in and year-out such as Josey Jewell and Brandon Scherff. Who in this 2018 class can become the next great Hawkeye success story? We’ve got a few to keep your eye on.
