Arkansas Football: 5 incoming freshmen who could start in 2018

Last, but certainly not least, is Myles Mason. The three-star safety, and top-rated defensive back in Arkansas’ 2018 class, has all the tools to make him an instant impact contender. With one safety position wide open heading into the offseason and spring ball, Mason could push for time and beat out some veterans for the job.

This might be another case of Chad Morris going with one of his guys over some unproven Razorbacks already on the roster. Although true freshmen need adjustment periods to get used to college football’s pace and aggressiveness, Mason seems to be a strong athlete.

Just how athletic is this kid? He played just about any position at the prep level from quarterback to running back to receiver and defensive back. He will likely line up as the latter in Fayetteville, but that won’t stop him from being a two-way candidate.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety from Trussville, Ala., picked the Razorbacks over Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Louisville and Tennessee. He’s listed as the No. 407 recruit in the 2018 class and 29th-best safety.
