Ohio State Football: Top 10 early recruiting targets in 2019 class
Ohio State football’s 2018 recruiting class was elite, but can 2019 be even better? Here are the top 10 targets for Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.
Will we ever see a cycle where Ohio State does not have one of the top-three recruiting classes in America for as long as Urban Meyer is in charge? Probably not. The Buckeyes’ head coach has done a fantastic job of bringing in elite prospects and finished with the No. 2 class in 2018.
It’s never too early to look ahead to the 2019 cycle, though. Meyer has Georgia and Kirby Smart in his sights and wants to lock up that top class come next National Signing Day.
Which 10 targets should be the top priority for the Buckeyes in 2019?
As one of the top athletes in the entire 2019 class, Ronnie Hickman has the versatility to play both sides of the ball. In fact, he excels as both a receiver and a cornerback at the prep level and that type of versatility makes him an even bigger priority for Urban Meyer and Co.
The New Jersey-native stands 6-foot-1 and weighs in at about 200 pounds, making him the ideal size for either a defensive back or a receiver. He may even look to be a two-way player at the next level, but would that be for the Buckeyes?
Right now, he holds 17 offers and four programs seem to be standing out above the rest. The Buckeyes look to be his leader, but Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan are all making pushes. He most recently visited the Nittany Lions on Feb. 16.
Hickman is ranked the No. 105 overall prospect in the class and 11th-best athlete, according to 247Sports.
