The No. 1 recruit in the entire 2019 class could end up being a Buckeye. Actually, it’d be more than shocking if Zach Harrison, a five-star defensive end from Lewis Center, Ohio, picked anyone else but Ohio State.

Like most kids from the state of Ohio, Harrison likely grew up watching the Buckeyes and dreaming of running out of the tunnel at The Shoe. He’s close to realizing that dream and committing to Ohio State’s 2019 class, keeping the No. 1 player in the nation home for the next 3-4 years.

Ohio State has been excellent at developing defensive line prospects for the NFL and Harrison could follow Joey Bosa’s — and soon to be Nick Bosa’s — suit. The reigning Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year resides in Columbus and Harrison could be next.

There will be plenty of competition for playing time, though. Urban Meyer lands top defensive ends in each class and Harrison could be forced to compete as a rotational player rather than a starter early on.
