The 2018 season will be one of great change for Texas A&M Football. Who will emerge as the most important players on the roster?

Texas A&M has had quite a few big names pass through the tunnels of Kyle Field. That won’t change in 2018. The question, however, is who will step up and become the most important players on the Aggie roster in 2018.

This team will be full of underclassmen, particularly sophomores. Some of those have emerged as leaders and important figures in the machine that is Texas A&M Football. Let’s meet the seven players I have decided are the most important for the coming season.

No. 7 Center Erik McCoy

Erik McCoy has been the star of a struggling offensive line for two years. He is the most consistent member of the line, whether he checks in at guard or center. The Aggies picked up quite a few offensive linemen in their 2018 recruiting class. McCoy will be the central cog of the Aggie offensive unit.

McCoy has good size for a center, uses his hands well and notably keeps his eyes constantly upfield allowing him and his teammates to key in on the right defender. It is likely that A&M will see a grouping of freshman playing on the line during the 2018 campaign. However, it will be important for McCoy, and senior guard Connor Lanfear, to emerge as leaders on the line.
