West Virginia closed its 2018 recruiting class on a high note. Which 2018 signees could become starters for the Mountaineers?

Dana Holgorsen’s 2018 recruiting class wasn’t exactly an elite one, per national standards, but finishing in the top-40 cannot be overlooked. West Virginia is coming off a 7-6 campaign but the Mountaineers still have plenty of talent returning as well as a decent class coming in.

West Virginia could be starting some incoming freshmen in 2018, but that’s not exactly an easy task for a first-year player. The Mountaineers have Will Grier returning, but who is coming in to help him right away?

Which five newcomers have a good chance to start in 2018?

Blaine Scott was one of the most highly sought-after guard recruits in the entire 2018 class and despite the fact that he wasn’t a four-star prospect, he held 30 offers.

Originally, the three-star guard was committed to Ole Miss, but re-opened his recruitment in July and committed to West Virginia in October. He inked his Letter of Intent in the early signing period and enrolled in January. As an early enrollee, his chances of playing as a true freshman increase exponentially.

Standing 6-foot-4, 310 pounds, Scott has the size and the strength to compete right away and the fact that he’s going to know the playbook before the rest of his freshmen non-early enrollee peers gives him a leg up.

Kyle Bosch is graduating and leaving the right guard spot wide open. Scott could swoop in and prove himself worthy of playing with the No. 1s.
