All the excitement that is building around Texas A&M football this Spring amounts to nothing if a few key players do not take the next step in 2018.
Texas A&M football enters Spring practice and their Spring game with a few questions to answer. Since they capped off another great start to a regular season with a largely disappointing finish, some things do need to change. First off, do they finally have the answer under center.
Rising sophomore quarterback Nick Starkel is on the receiving end of a lot of speculation and even some hype entering the 2018 campaign. Starkel finished off the 2017 season with a 499 passing yard and four touchdown performance in a postseason loss to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the Belk Bowl.
Expectations are guaranteed to be heightened in 2018 with first-year head coach Jimbo Fisher taking over this Spring in College Station. Jimbo’s first year with the program is more about establishing a benchmark for success in the coming years.
The only game action for the Aggies takes place on April 14, as they’ll take part in the annual Spring Football Game at Kyle Field. There’s a few things to watch for the Aggies before they take to Kyle Field in mid-April.
Fisher is sure to still start a quarterback battle in College Station before the start of the regular season. Starkel is the likely starter, but nothing is guaranteed. Kellen Mond and incoming four-star dual-threat quarterback James Foster could still compete for that spot.
