3. 1st round underwear athletes, a pair of NFL Combine freaks

I’m not sure where they’re going to wind up but Mike Gesicki and DJ Chark, two really strange last names, have worked themselves up on NFL Draft boards. Gesicki was a clutch receiving tight end for Trey McSorely and the Penn State Nittany Lions in 2017. He caught 15 touchdowns in four seasons.

Gesicki though didn’t always show true football acumen as much as just being a jump ball expert. At the combine he boasted some huge numbers that will lure in GM’s and scouts alike. Gesicki is 6-foot-5, 247 pounds and was timed at 4.54 in the 40-yard dash.

More impressive was his 41.5 inch vertical jump and 129 inch broad jump. Gesicki then put up 22 reps on the bench press and a 4.1 20-yard shuttle proving him explosive, quick and fast. Much like David Njoku, he may not have the statistical pedigree from college but his measurables will turn into a first round draft selection after being rated the 97th overall player and third best tight end by CBS Sports.

D.J. Chark, the wide receiver from LSU, is another player that’s sky rocketed up draft boards. His major Senior Bowl showing received an encore. Measuring in at 6-foot-3 and 199 pounds, Chark ran a 4.34 in the 40-yard dash. He leaped 40 inches in the vertical and 129 inches in the broad jump.

He even put up 16 reps at 225 which isn’t bad for a guy with his frame. Chark averaged 21.9 yards per catch in an anemic LSU offense in 2017.
