Ohio State football heads into spring of 2018 as the class of the Big Ten. What storylines should Buckeye fans be following this spring?
Changes are a-coming as the Ohio State Buckeyes head into spring ball. After beating USC handily in the Cotton Bowl, the Buckeyes have to be excited about the future, despite being down a starting quarterback and a number of defensive stars.
Urban Meyer isn’t rebuilding in Columbus, though, he’s reloading. The Buckeyes are bringing in another top-three recruiting class, ranked No. 2 by 247Sports. The cupboard isn’t bare in Columbus heading into the new season and ahead of April 14’s spring game.
What five storylines should we be following this spring concerning the Buckeyes?
5. New-look front-seven
Another year, another instance of the Buckeyes having to reload in key positions. This year, the Buckeyes lose two starters in the secondary, but also a number of front-seven starters, including Sam Hubbard, Tyquan Lewis, Jerome Baker and Chris Worley. Who replaces those guys?
There’s plenty of talent as the cupboard was left far from bare. Look for Chase Young to emerge on the defensive line as well as Robert Landers.
At linebacker, Keandre Jones, Tuf Borland and Dante Booker are early favorites to start, but don’t sleep on incoming freshman, and early enrollee, Dallas Gant.
The Buckeyes aren’t lacking talent, but experience is another story. It’ll be interesting to see who emerges in the front-seven, giving it almost an entire new look for 2018.
