3. Emerging stars in the secondary

Just like last offseason, Ohio State will have to replace some key members of its secondary. Unlike last offseason, it won’t quite be an overhaul. Denzel Ward is headed to the NFL draft a year early and Damon Webb has exhausted his eligibility.

Returning are guys like Damon Arnette, Kendall Sheffield and Jordan Fuller. The favorites to replace Ward and Webb are Jeffrey Okudah and Isaiah Pryor, respectively. However, that doesn’t mean the positions have been decided as there are some incoming freshmen who have enrolled early and will look to compete right away.

Five-star safety Tyreke Johnson, as mentioned before, could be an early favorite to contend for a starting spot and four-star cornerback Sevyn Banks is also an option.

The Buckeyes have plenty of options and Urban Meyer should feel optimistic about what he has coming back. He has sent defensive backs to the NFL at an impressive rate since taking over in Columbus and we should expect that to continue after the 2018 campaign.
