Ohio State football has had some great coaches in its program’s history, but which 10 top the list and in what order are they ranked?

It’s hard to think of Ohio State University for one second and in the next second not think about their legendary college football program. The Buckeyes have been playing football since 1890 and have accumulated an overall program record of 898-324-53, which equates to a winning percentage of .725. The program has amassed eight national championships, 38 conference championships and 48 bowl appearances.

Throughout program history, the Buckeyes have had legendary players as well. Ohio State has had seven Heisman Trophy winners, including the only two-time winner of the award, Archie Griffin. Other notable stars to play in the scarlet and gray are Chic Harley, Vic Janowicz, Howard “Hopalong” Cassady, Eddie George, Orlando Pace, Troy Smith, Chris Spielman and most recently, quarterback J.T. Barrett.

But bringing the best out of these generations of players is a long list of great head coaches who have roamed the sidelines of Ohio Stadium in Columbus. Current Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer is in his sixth year and has already made a very solid case to have his name appear on this list. Other obvious names on the list include Jim Tressel, Earle Bruce, John Cooper and of course the legend Woody Hayes. However, the question remains: Where do they rank on this list?
