Louisville Football: 5 incoming 2018 class signees who could start
One signee that doesn’t quite get enough attention, or at least hasn’t yet, is four-star cornerback Jairus Brents. The Louisville, Ky., native committed to Louisville on the eve of National Signing Day this year and he instantly became the program’s highest-rated signee in the 2018 class.
Brents has been one of the most highly sought-after prospects in the 2018 class, holding 33 offers before giving his pledge to the Cardinals. He’s ranked the No. 230 overall prospect and 24th-best cornerback in the class, according to 247Sports.
The Louisville-native is slightly undersized at 5-foot-10 and 178 pounds, but if he adds some muscle to that frame, he will be a force despite not being the tallest guy on the field.
Louisville is going to need some cornerback replacements heading into the 2018 season as both Jaire Alexander and Trumaine Washington are gone. Two vacant cornerback spots which will be fought for between Cornelius Sturghill and Russ Yeast. Don’t sleep on Brents in the cornerback battle this fall, though.
