The defensive backfield will have almost an entirely new look in 2018, but will it be filled with incoming freshman and JUCO transfers? It’s possible, and Marlon Character Jr. could be a name to watch when fall practice rolls around.

Although he’s not an early enrollee, he has some collegiate experience already, playing for Northwest Mississippi C.C. after enrolling at Auburn out of high school. He was one of the top high school safeties in the 2016 class, being ranked No. 14 at the position, but now he’s one of the best at the JUCO level.

In fact, his talent has translated well, sitting atop the JUCO safety rankings as the No. 1 player at the position and No. 18 overall. He’s a four-star at that level and brings plenty go hype with him to Louisville.

Character Jr. stands 6-foot and weighs in at 190 pounds and he will get a chance to battle for the starting safety job right away with Chucky Williams graduating. This kid is going to be something special if he lives up to his potential.
