2. Is Brandon Wimbush the answer at quarterback?

There’s been plenty of debate about this one and even though it’d be nice to have it answered this spring, it’s something that could head deep into the fall.

Is Brandon Wimbush really the answer at quarterback for the Irish? After watching his regression throughout last season, the answer might be no, but it all depends on how much he is willing to work on his accuracy and vision. He is guilty of running before anything truly opens up, essentially ridding himself of the title of “dual-threat” quarterback.

A run-only quarterback is not usually effective and defenses didn’t have to respect his arm, instead focusing on containing him and the run game.

Wimbush finished the season with a sub-50 percent completion rate and just 1,870 yards and 16 touchdowns with six interceptions.

Ian Book will be pushing for starting snaps in the spring while Phil Jurkovec will come in during the summer and compete as well. Wimbush may not be the answer, but this spring will tell us a lot about his progress.
