1. Does Chip adapt his offense?

Chip Kelly is not going to be able to walk right in and run the same offense as he did when he left Oregon in 2012.

A lot has changed and his offense was successful but not great in the NFL. Kelly was notorious for lining up his tailback different for inside and outside zone, an easy tell now with the amount of analysts and graduate assistants breaking down minutiae has expanded greatly and Kelly had to see that with the unlimited number of guys breaking down film in the NFL.

Kelly’s offense was once innovating but now is being used all over college football and in the Pac-12 especially.

What will Kelly do to adapt? Jimmie Dougherty and DeShaun Foster are holdovers from Mora’s staff. Dougherty learned from Jim Harbaugh and Jedd Fisch, and Foster greatly improved the running back group in a hurry in 2017. Dougherty and Foster have more experience in pro-style and West Coast systems.

Dana Bible is the quarterback coach who has experience in the NFL and in the college ranks. Kelly might be looking for a more pro style look to his offense, but mixing in the dual threat quarterback, inside zone read option, and run-pass option features that Rosen excelled at in Los Angeles.

Kelly will still look for a winged scat back, a power back, a big body tight end, and tall wide receivers that can make for mis-match nightmares. That part will never change.
