College Football: 5 Spring quarterback battles to watch

College Football has to replace a slew of big time quarterbacks including Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield. Here are the quarterback battles for spring of 2018.

With the departure of elite big name quarterbacks all over the country- college football has to find new big names to keep the ratings and spotlight on the college game. No matter which of the star quarterbacks are drafted first overall, there’s a possible six quarterbacks that will be drafted in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. That list includes 2016 Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson, 2017 winner Baker Mayfield, USC passer Sam Darnold, UCLA gunslinger Josh Rosen, Wyoming Cowboy Josh Allen, and Oklahoma State longtime starter Mason Rudolph.

UCLA will have a new quarterback and a new head football coach in Chip Kelly. There are over a dozen major quarterback battles including powerhouse traditional programs like Nebraska, Florida State, and Florida who have new coaches as well. Incumbent coaches needing in the midst of quarterback battles are Urban Meyer at Ohio State, Jim Harbaugh at Michigan, Mark Richt at Miami, and Tom Herman at Texas. Then there’s the peculiar issue at Alabama.
