Texas A&M Football: 5 players who must step up in spring 2018
The 2018 spring game is about to officially kick off for Texas A&M football in April, with a few players needing to make their mark.
Texas A&M football could fall under the radar entering the 2018 season, but that would be a mistake on the part of the college football world. The SEC West should be on the lookout for these Aggies due to some positive moves made prior to, and during the off-season.
However, the SEC West should be as competitor as ever too, considering the plethora of top notch programs in the division in 2018. Outside of Texas A&M, who should be very solid this year, the SEC West includes the reigning National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide, reigning division champs Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and a tough out in the Ole Miss Rebels.
A non-conference slate that features teams like the 2016 National Champion Clemson Tigers does not make things much easier. These Aggies will definitely be battle tested by the end of the regular season. But, they now have a head coach in Jimbo Fisher that’s been there and done that with during his time with the Florida State Seminoles.
Since Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and the Arkansas Razorbacks do have some large question marks entering 2018, the Aggies do have a clear path to take to real contention in the SEC. The cross-conference portion of the schedule includes the Kentucky Wildcats and South Carolina Gamecocks as two manageable opponents for Texas A&M.
We’ll get our first glimpse of 2018 at what the Aggies will look like this year when they take to Kyle Field for their spring game on April 14. Here are five players that must step up for the Texas A&M Aggies in spring practice to take the next step overall.
