The 2018 spring game for NC State football will feature one of the ACC’s best quarterbacks, but what else should we be watching for?
Nobody really knew what to expect from NC State football in 2017, but when the Wolfpack beat Florida State early in the season on the road, it set the tone. They became instant ACC contenders and gave Clemson an early run for its money before fizzling out.
The Wolfpack still finished the year with a 9-4 record and Ryan Finley stood out as one of the league’s best passers, but it wasn’t enough to remain in the conference title race until the end.
Finley finished the season with 3,514 yards and 17 touchdowns with just six picks and he’ll return for his senior year with lofty expectations. He could evolve into one of the nation’s top quarterbacks, but he’ll need to prove his worth against the ACC’s premier teams.
While NC State’s offense will return some solid talent at key positions, the defense will be losing some big-time players.
Unfortunately for NC State, Bradley Chubb will be absent from Saturday’s spring game because he has graduated and the defense will have a slightly new look. He was one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the nation in 2017.
