Heading into the 2018 NFL Draft, there have been 82 players selected No. 1 overall. Let’s look at where those players spent their college years.

The NFL Draft is the great leveler in college football. Regardless of where one goes to school, the professional ranks scout all levels of intercollegiate football to find talents capable of playing at the next level.

It is always a fierce battle to see which college star will go No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft. On 82 previous occasions, there have been some consensus picks as well as some wild reaches. There were also seven AFL Drafts, and on all but one occasion the two leagues had different No. 1 picks in their respective drafts.

Schools big and small are represented on the list of top selections. Both the FBS and the FCS are represented on the list. There are historic black colleges and universities featured among the colleges found atop the NFL Draft. Conversely, some programs that have produced top picks no longer field football teams.

For this week’s Sunday Morning Quarterback, I have distilled down the list of top draft selections. Let’s look at those picks from a few different angles today to get a feel for where top-shelf NFL talent plies its trade at the college level, which positions are most coveted, and which pro teams get to pick first most often.
