2018 NFL Mock Draft: Complete first round after pro days, trades
Needs: EDGE, OG, CB
The 49ers have been beautifully masterminded together by former All Pro safety and NFL broadcaster John Lynch. Lynch has put the team together so quickly that there aren’t a ton of glaring needs on their roster.
One need however is pass rusher. The 49ers will also need an interior offensive lineman to protect quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and open running lanes for Jerick McKinnon. A player that will make John Lynch think of his days with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is Tremaine Edmunds.
Edmunds, a linebacker out of Virginia Tech, has size and athleticism. At 6-foot-5 and 253 pounds Edmunds can rush the passer or play the run and he has the speed as well being clocked in the 40 yard dash at 4.54 which is lights out for a rush end. But Edmunds can play linebacker in a 4-3 defense, too.
The 49ers defensive line itself has talent, it just needs a third and long pass rusher. Their linebacker corps could use a pick up and Edmunds will be a ‘wait and see’ prospect on the defensive side of the ball.
