1. Can Dwayne Haskins take control of the offense?

It seems as if it’s been decades since Ohio State last held a spring game without JT Barrett participating. The all-time Buckeye great has exhausted his eligibility after passing for 3,000 yards and 35 touchdowns in 2017, finishing his career off on a high note.

The favorite to replace Barrett is sophomore Dwayne Haskins. He redshirted in 2016 before playing the role of Barrett’s backup in 2017 although the coaching staff was also high on Joe Burrow. There may be a slight quarterback battle this spring, but it’s Haskins’ job to lose.

Can he take control of the offense the way that Barrett did?

Time will tell, honestly. If it looks like he’s commanding the offense with ease this spring, it’ll be a good indicator that he’s ready to do so in the fall. He just needs to show that he’s mastered the playbook and has the confidence to be a leader and the team’s most important player.

Tate Martell will also be in the hunt for playing time under center, but keep an eye on Haskins’ progress. He played well in 2017, completing 70 percent of his passes for 565 yards and four scores, but he needs to prove he can do that with about 300 more attempts under his belt.
