Less than two weeks remains before Notre Dame football plays in front of a crowd likely over 30,000 strong for the first time in 2018.

Notre Dame football takes part in its Blue-Gold Spring Game at Notre Dame Stadium on April 21. It’s the biggest event of the off-season for the Fighting Irish to experience since the festivities of National Signing Day, back in February. If Notre Dame can put on a good show in their spring game, they’ll see a decent rise in where they fit in a lot of the more significant preseason rankings.

The hype surrounding head coach Brian Kelly and his Notre Dame squad is largely build around a very experienced defense. They return nearly all the production from last year’s Notre Dame defense, that played very well most of the way. The offense has some solid pieces returning to campus in 2018 also.

When Notre Dame takes to the field in South Bend, IN, for the first time in more than five months, all eyes will fall on the quarterback competition in place this off-season. Two quarterbacks are at the forefront of the Irish headlines at this moment including Ian Book and Brandon Wimbush.

Kelly has to make the right decision for a huge opening weekend matchup with potentially Shea Patterson, and the Michigan Wolverines. Sept. 1 is the next time the Irish take to Notre Dame Stadium, in the meeting with Michigan, after this spring game.

That just shows how important setting the proper tone is for the Blue-Gold Game at the end of April. Notre Dame has very little opportunity in spring to set things up to match all the excitement building up for this fall. It’s a lot of pressure for this coaching staff to face.

Here are three players that will make a huge impact for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Blue-Gold Spring Game.
