2018 NFL Draft: Ranking the Top 10 running backs
By Dana Becker
What left is there to be said about Saquon Barkley that hasn’t already been said? He’s regarded as the top athlete in the draft, and if there wasn’t such a need for landing a quarterback, Barkley would in all likelihood be the No. 1 overall pick.
Instead, he’ll have to settle for being called the No. 1 player in the 2018 NFL Draft by just about everybody.
Barkley is the new-age running back that is taking the NFL by storm. He’s a talented runner, receiver and return man – the 3 R’s of the offensive game.
As a sophomore in 2016, Barkley ran for 1,496 yards, had 402 yards receiving on 28 catches and scored 22 touchdowns. He managed to top his yards per carry this past year, pushed his receptions to 54 and had over 1,900 yards from scrimmage, finishing fourth in the Heisman voting.

The biggest problem for Barkley was that he had such incredible games early on, there was really no way he’d be able to continue that throughout the year as opposing defenses zeroed in on taking him away.
Barkley added the role of kickoff returner to his resume this past fall, averaging over 28 yards per return and scoring twice.
