The closest call for the Hogs in SEC West competition last year, that resulted in a defeat, came against the Texas A&M Aggies. Arkansas was edged out in an overtime loss, after former quarterback Austin Allen tossed an interception to Texas A&M safety Armani Watts to seal things.

This time around, this matchup looks to still be a close contest. Things are made even more interesting too by each program coming into the regular season with new head coaches. Morris does have a much lower profile, coming from the SMU Mustangs, than Jimbo Fisher does, coming from the Florida State Seminoles.

Also, this could be a completely different quarterback matchup than we saw a season ago. Last year, Allen took on a true freshman in Kellen Mond. Nick Starkel could be the starter for the Aggies by this point in the regular season slate, and who knows who will get the nod for Morris and the Hogs.

A new offense that has Arkansas spreading things out, but still keeping a focus on the ground game, makes this a much watch SEC contest. Arkansas needs the victory here to gain enough confidence to get through the rest of the SEC slate, and this is a winnable game for them.
