Facing the final SEC West opponent of the season, the Mississippi State Bulldogs, should bring the very best out of the Hogs. Especially since Mississippi State lost their head coach that really brought them to prominence in Dan Mullen, things don’t look too good for them.

After Mullen bolted for the Florida Gators, Mississippi State brought Penn State Nittany Lions offensive coordinator Joe Moorehead as their new head coach. Both Arkansas and Mississippi State could be heading in opposite directions in 2018. The only question entering this matchup likely sits with how the Hogs can handle stopping standout quarterback Nick Fitzgerald.

There’s still a chance that Fitzgerald could be a dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate in 2018, if the offense comes together around him. It is going to be tremendously hard for him to make a push for an award of that level if the supporting cast in Starkville is not up to par.

The last three games of the regular season for Arkansas are all huge. They start by taking on a division rival in the LSU Tigers. That’s followed by the matchup with Mississippi State, and then they have to deal with star quarterback Drew Lock and the Mizzou Tigers. Arkansas needs to take one or two of these games to round out things the way their supposed to in 2018.
