There’s no argument here, the best overall head coach on this list falls on this slide right here. The legendary Crimson Tide head coach (similar to that of Gene Stallings), Paul “Bear” Bryant, established his big time college football success with the Aggies.

More from Texas A&M Aggies

A surprising fact for Bryant’s time as a head football coach is that his only Heisman winner came with Texas A&M, and not Alabama. Considering all the championships he won during his time in Tuscaloosa, that’s an truly amazing feat for the Aggies to claim stake to.

However, the 1-9 start to Bryant’s coaching career in College Station really tainted the overall record he managed with the program. The three years following the one win season in Bryant’s initial campaign, there were nothing but top three finishes in the Southwest Conference.

Bryant also led the Aggies to Southwest Conference Championship in 1956, which was also the best ranking roundup in his four years there. Bryant then bolted for Tuscaloosa and the Crimson Tide in 1958, with a slew of accolades that could have been reached if he decided to stay in College Station for another few years, including the possibility of his first championship as a head coach.
