2. Will the quarterbacks leave the door open for JT Daniels?

The quarterback competition for USC will be something to keep an eye on as spring practice winds down. The Trojans have two options in place, but neither have particularly stood out as the clear No. 1 quarterback heading into summer camp.

Redshirt sophomore Matt Fink and redshirt freshman Jack Sears are dueling it out for the starting job and the spring game will give some good insight on the potential leader. Fink played minimally as a redshirt freshman, completing 6-of-9 passes for 43 yards while Sears was in his redshirt season. Neither have the ideal experience to replace Sam Darnold.

Losing a Heisman-caliber quarterback is never easy and it’ll be especially tough for the Trojans given the fact that the two quarterbacks on the roster have a combined nine career pass attempts. Could that leave the door open for true freshman JT Daniels to enter the mix this summer?

The answer is growing increasingly clear by the day, but depending on how these two end spring ball, Daniels will likely get a shot in the fall. The five-star quarterback from nearby Santa Ana, Calif., is entering an open battle and could very well win it in the fall.
