1. Can a healthy Tua Tagovailoa take the next step?

Although Tua Tagovailoa has been hampered by injuries, there’s still one major question surrounding the soon-to-be sophomore. Will a healthy Tagovailoa be able to take that next step?

As a freshman, he proved to be one of the fastest-rising stars in the game, leading the Tide to a national title after taking over in the second half for Jalen Hurts. He looked like a star and showed zero fear on the biggest stage. That’s not something you often see from a true freshman.

Now that he’s the favorite to start, Tagovailoa needs to prove himself as someone who’s ready to take that next step — when he’s healthy.

Tagovailoa finished the 2017 season with 636 yards and 11 touchdowns through the air and another 133 yards and two scores rushing. While Hurts is considered a better dual-threat, he’s not much less of a threat to run with the ball.

The next step is in sight, but Tagovailoa needs to show progress and he’ll win that starting job over Hurts. A spring-time injury doesn’t help matters, however.
