2. Texas

While the Crimson Tide have a big time quarterback battle on their hands for the rest of the off-season, so do the Texas Longhorns. Rising junior Shane Buechele and rising sophomore Sam Ehlinger are battling it out for the right to call themselves the Week 1 Texas starter.

If the Horns can’t find an answer under center between Buechele and Ehlinger, then they would have a great quarterback to turn to if Hurts picks them. The though of how much hype would build around the Horns entering the 2019 season with Hurts is absolutely crazy.

However, it is a big jump to go from the style of offensive systems in the SEC and the Big 12. Texas head coach Tom Herman has shown that he can successfully build a good offensive scheme around certain quarterback skill sets, like he did with Ehlinger in his freshman campaign.

Texas is also recruiting at an even higher level than they did during the Charlie Strong era, which is truly impressive. Herman does have the resources to continuously bring in top five recruiting classes to Austin, which builds the program up for a possible Hurts arrival.
