Former Tennessee quarterback has chosen a new home, according to his Instagram, as Houston seems to be the right fit.

Former Tennessee football starting quarterback Quinten Dormady has a new home, as the graduate transfer has landed at Houston.

Dormady confirmed the announcement with a post on Instagram recently.

Dormady spent three seasons with the Tennessee program, playing in 13 games and throwing for 1,282 yards with seven touchdowns and six interceptions. After seeing minimal action his first two years on campus, the 6-foot-4 signal caller was named the starter last season.

In six games, Dormady completed 55.5 percent of his passes for 925 yards with six touchdowns and six picks. He started the first five games before losing the job to Jarrett Guarantano.

With Houston, Dormady will jump right into the starting quarterback competition with D’eriq King, who made four starters a year ago for the Cougars, and freshmen Clayton Tune and Bryson Smith. King, a sophomore, played in 10 games a year ago, throwing for 1,260 yards with seven touchdowns and a pair of interceptions.

Dormady came to Tennessee with plenty of promise, as the Texas native was the 14th-ranked pocket passer in the nation his high school season at Boerne. After backing up Joshua Dobbs his first two years, Dormady was expected to shine in an offense directed by Butch Jones.

It never materialized for either, with Dormady losing the job and Jones being fired after a 4-6 start that included an 0-6 record in the SEC.

Dormady will now get the chance to make a statement just 200 miles from his high school with Houston. He is believed to be completely recovered from shoulder surgery that sidelined him late in 2017, and he enters an offense that brought in former Baylor offensive coordinator Kendal Briles to work with the quarterbacks under head coach Major Applewhite.

If Dormady is able to solidify himself as the starter early on and gain reps in the new offense, he could be in for a productive season.

Without Briles last year, Houston averaged almost 430 yards of total offense per game with three offensive touchdowns being scored on average.

The Cougars open their 2018 season at Rice on Aug. 31.
