West Virginia Football: What’s David Sills V have to do to prove NFL value?
Stick to his niche as red zone target
Wide receivers that can present significant, and unique, value with their skill sets have a way of finding themselves taken in the first few rounds of the NFL Draft on a pretty consistent basis. Take the 2018 NFL Draft receiver class for example, every top receiver seems to have their specific niche.
That example pertains to top 2018 wide receivers prospects across the board including deep-threat Oklahoma State Cowboys product James Washington, versatile Texas A&M Aggies product Christian Kirk, potent SMU Mustangs product Courtland Sutton, etc. Sills V could learn from all those guys.
Most of Sills V’s significant targets did come in the red zone last year. It seemed like the ball was just magnetized from the time it left Grier’s arm, until it was reeled in by Sills V. That is a valued aspect to his NFL Draft stock, and he shouldn’t get away from it.
Although Sills V might not reach the same touchdown total he saw in 2017, but hovering around the 13-15 touchdown mark is great for him. If he does continue down the trek to the 20 touchdown catch mark, he’ll be an All-American for the second straight season.
