Offensive Outlook

A lot of the type of results we should expect out of the Arkansas offense this year will come from the results of the quarterback battle. Rising sophomore Cole Kelley actually got the second team reps in the spring game.

Surprisingly enough, rising junior Ty Storey got the first team snaps in the spring game, under the new-look Morris scheme. Storey ran the offense effectively, he just doesn’t have the same type of game experience that Kelley does. We’ll take the spring game look with a grain of salt and still say it’s a neck and neck battle between Kelley and Storey.

While the ground game will have a different setup in 2018, it’s still going to be a featured part of the offense for the Hogs. Rising junior running back Devwah Whaley was expected to do huge things in 2017, falling slightly short of the hype. This year, hopefully Whaley bounces back to the form of a potential 1,000-yard rusher.

If everything comes together correctly with rushers like Whaley, Chase Hayden, and T.J. Hammond, the Hogs should be much improved on the offensive side of the ball. Replacing departed quarterback Austin Allen falls on the shoulders of either Kelley or Storey. Incoming freshman four-star prospect Connor Noland is also a name to watch this fall. The offense should not be an issue for the Hogs in 2018.
