Scouting Report. Wyoming. 3. 30. Pick Analysis. Quarterback. Josh Allen. player

The New York Jets were the first team to move inside the top four picks to grab a quarterback. Who that passer is largely remains on the decisions made before them at picks one and two. If things do go “according to plan” the Jets might end up with the most polarizing football player in this draft class, Josh Allen.

Allen perfectly personifies two very different realities. On one hand, he looks the part of an NFL quarterback. He’s tall (6-foot-5), has a cannon arm and can “make all the throws”. On the other hand, he’s missed almost half of his collegiate passes (56.2 completion percentage) and didn’t do anything to separate himself during a disappointing junior season.

Selecting Allen is a risk, but the upside is extremely tempting. That’s especially true considering the Jets quarterback room consists of Josh McCown, Teddy Bridgewater, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg. One of those might be a decent bridge quarterback, but none of them is a lock to be the Jets’ long-term solution.

If the Jets can fix Allen, this sky is the limit, both for Allen and this franchise. The Jets hope to not be drafting inside the top five again any time soon, so choosing the right passer is of utmost importance.
