NFL Draft 2018: Cardinals make right pick with Josh Rosen at No. 10
The Arizona Cardinals traded up to take a risk at No. 10. They chose UCLA star quarterback Josh Rosen and it’s a risk that’ll pay off.
Despite holding the No. 15 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals decided to make a risky move and trade the Raiders that pick along with the No. 79 and No. 152 selections in order to draft Josh Rosen.
Is this the right move? It seems that way given that the Cardinals have a bit of a quarterback issue with Carson Palmer retiring at the conclusion of the 2017 season and Drew Stanton moving on to the Browns.
Luckily, Arizona brought in Sam Bradford, but that may not be enough to make the front office feel good about the position. Rosen is that high-risk, high-reward type of player who the Cardinals were right to take a chance on. Giving up three picks to fill a huge need isn’t terrible, either.
Although Rosen had an up-and-down final season with the UCLA Bruins, even seeing his head coach fired, he showcased the ability to lead his team back from the brink multiple times. The best example was a 34-point comeback against Texas A&M in the season opener.
Earning the nickname ‘The Rosen One’, he has the ability to be an accurate passer and he possesses a strong arm. Arizona may not be in trouble at the quarterback position, after all.
