NFL Draft 2018: Tremaine Edmunds a questionable pick by Bills
The Buffalo Bills traded up to the No. 16 spot with the Ravens in order to draft Tremaine Edmunds, which is a major risk.
Buffalo was making some moves in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft and one of the biggest risks the Bills made was trading up with the Baltimore Ravens at No. 16 to draft Tremaine Edmunds out of Virginia Tech.
While he’s not exactly a household name, Edmunds has the potential to be an impact player in the NFL, but it could take some time.
Edmunds wowed scouts with his 4.54 40-yard dash but his strength was a question mark after doing just 19 reps of 225. He has the long frame to be a problem for opposing linemen, but the NFL isn’t going to be as forgiving for him when he overpursues like college was.
That was one of his biggest weaknesses was his inability to let plays develop and he often jumped at first movement rather than staying put and securing that edge. He stands 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 253 pounds and looks the part, but he needs to work on instincts — that’s not exactly something that can be taught.
The Bills could use help on the defensive line and he has the skill set to be a force, but he’s got some work to do.

Overall, Edmunds has incredible upside, but it’s more of a project here than anything. He will need to work on his patience at the end position, but he could be a home-run selection if he develops quickly enough.
