Auburn. Ronnie Brown. 4. player. 59. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Running Back

Ronnie Brown was the second overall pick of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. A former Auburn Tiger, Brown was a power back measuring in at 6-0 and 235 pounds. While sharing a backfield at Auburn with Cadillac Williams, he only started 21 of 47 games over his collegiate career.

The best season Brown had at Auburn statistically was in 2002, when he ran for 1,008 and 13 touchdowns while Williams was injured.

In 2004, Brown started seven games and ran for 913 yards and eight touchdowns as Auburn went 13-0 on the season. While at Auburn, Brown was named to the All-SEC second team in 2002 and 2004.

The Dolphins took a chance on a player that had limited starting experience, knowing they still had Ricky Williams coming off of a suspension. In ten seasons in the NFL, Brown only rushed for over 1,000 yards one time — also to the number of 1,008 like at Auburn.

Brown stayed with Miami from 2005-2010 before playing in Philadelphia, San Diego and Houston over his career as he rushed for 5,391 yards and 38 touchdowns. He made one Pro Bowl as a reserve in 2008. His most famous professional moment came in Week 3 of the 2008 season against the New England Patriots where the Dolphins shocked the Pats by running the Wildcat formation and used Brown as both a singlewing type quarterback. The Dolphins upset the Patriots 38-13 with Brown throwing a touchdown and rushing for four touchdowns as well.
