Texas A&M Football: 6 Aggies headed to the NFL
Texas A&M football had three players selected in the 2018 NFL Draft and a few others sign on with NFL teams in some capacity. Where are all the Aggies headed?
Wide receiver Christian Kirk and safety Armani Watts drew most of the accolades entering the 2018 NFL Draft. It came as no surprise then when Kirk was selected in the second round (No. 47 overall) by the Arizona Cardinals and Watts was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round (No. 124 overall). That duo led the Aggies on the field over the past three seasons. It comes as no surprise then that each was rewarded with a relatively high draft selection.
The surprise came in the sixth round when the Cleveland Browns drafted wide receiver Damion Ratley (No. 175 overall). Ratley’s selection marked the final former Texas A&M player drafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, but he wasn’t the last Aggie to get his chance at fulfilling an NFL dream this spring.
Two other Aggies signed deals with NFL teams following the draft. Defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson will join Ratley in Cleveland while punter Shane Tripucka will join fellow former Texas A&M specialist Drew Kaser with the Los Angeles Chargers. No other Aggies signed as undrafted free agents with teams in the three days following the NFL Draft.

After the initial wave of free agent signings the rest of the undrafted free agents will latch on somewhere. Tryouts are held during the spring, with some players receiving invitations directly from teams to partcipate. One of those such players is running back Keith Ford, who will try out with the Buffalo Bills. Cornerback Priest Willis and defensive end Jarrett Johnson are among the other Aggies that could find themselves in an NFL camp in the near future.
