Michigan State football has their eyes on a Big Ten Championship. Can top defensive end recruit Michael Fletcher get them there?

Michael Fletcher, a 6-foot-6, 240 pound defensive from Carmen-Ainsworth in Flint, MI is one of Mark Dantonio‘s biggest targets for the 2019 class. Fletcher, who has been to campus plenty times already, announced on his Twitter Thursday that he will be on campus again Monday. What makes it even more special this time, is that he will be accompanied by his Grandma for the first time.

It has been rumored that his grandma is a very big piece to where he likely ends up. Mark Dantonio has prided his program and recruiting on relationships, and this will be a great opportunity to strengthen his bond with Fletcher and his family even greater. Many believe, myself included, that MSU will be the team he ultimately chooses. A strong showing this week would go a long way towards making that expectation become a reality.

Currently Fletcher plans to commit in the summer, before his senior year. He is a superb athlete at his size, who uses his burst and supreme length to get past offensive linemen and blow plays up in the backfield. MSU has one other defensive end commitment for the class in Adam Berghorst a 6-foot-7, 245 pound from Zeeland East.

That duo combined would offer new defensive ends coach Chuck Bulough some major link and athleticism. The Spartans are looking to add at least three defensive ends in the class. MSU has dominated instate recruiting to this point, and they would love to add a player of Fletcher’s ability to the list. Look for more on Fletcher in the future, where I hope to have an update on his latest visit to the Spartans.
